  Two artists will be invited to display their work to sell for two consecutive months. The following are the requirements:

  The artists must be a WSI Member in good standing.

  The artists must be willing to hang their own paintings. Bring someone to help if possible. Both artists and helpers will work together with the Executive Director to arrange and hang on the designated walls.

  Provide 25 or less framed paintings. Watercolor and/or Gouache are acceptable, but not acrylics.

  All paintings must be for sale. Sales will be processed by WSI.

  Provide a master list to WSI with Titles and Prices. 

  The Artists' Reception takes place during "First Friday" when every studio in the building hosts open houses. All paintings must be hung and tagged by the First Friday of the first month. The artists will provide their own tags. WSI can help if needed.

  Members are strongly encouraged to attend the "First Friday" receptions to mingle with guests. It is optional!

  If a painting is sold, it can be removed and given to the buyer. This must first be approved by WSI to ensure payment was processed. WSI may rearrange paintings to cover empty spots.

  Each artist may participate once per year. If an artist’s name is drawn and is not able to participate, they will be put back in the pool for future drawings.

  Artists must take down their own paintings and remove them from Factory Arts District during the last week of the month so that the next pair of artists can hang. WSI will work with you on exact dates.

  WSI has cameras on the exhibit. WSI is not responsible for lost or stolen paintings. Smaller paintings will be kept inside the WSI Studio.

  The artists will receive 80% of the sale following the exhibition. The other 20% will support WSI’s Overall Mission.

   The WSI Hallway Member Exhibit is open anytime the building is open. Everyday 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

  Delivery Dates You may deliver your paintings directly to the library between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 19. Since this is a “Regional Exhibit”, Area Reps are not required to travel across the state to deliver from their regions. We understand not all members participate in Regional Exhibits. We do our best to reach different parts of the state each year.

  Tanya Roberts is transporting paintings from the WSI Office. You may drop them off during Tuesday Office Hours (Sept. 1, 10am to 3pm; Sept. 8, 10am to 3pm; or Sept. 15, 10am to 3pm); on First Friday Sept. 4, 6pm to 9pm); or by appointment.

  Art Requirements

  All paintings executed and presented in accordance with the rules will be exhibited. Works not adhering to the following specifications will not be exhibited and entry fees will not be refunded.

  Please read carefully:

  • This is NOT a Juried Exhibit. All skill levels are accepted. 2026 WSI Membership required.

  • All current WSI members may register one watercolor painting for this exhibition.

  • A painting exhibited in prior juried and membership shows is eligible if it adheres to these rules.

  • All paintings must be the original work of the artist. No copies or prints of paintings or published photographs will be accepted.

  • At least seventy percent (70%) of the entry must be watercolor paint or watercolor gouache paint. The balance of the entry may be acrylic, acrylic gouache, pastel, charcoal, ink and/or collage (e.g., photos, computer art, fabric, metal foil, etc.).

  • Flexibility in surface is allowed (canvas, watercolor board, wood, etc.). All edges must be framed or finished, with no visible staples, nails, or hardware. If submitting an unframed canvas, the outer edges must be painted.

  • All work must be ready to hang with wire applied to the upper third or fourth of the frame. No sawtooth or screw-eye hangers will be accepted. Refer to this diagram.

  • The painting and frame must have a professional appearance and be free from damage or blemishes. Ensure the painting is clean, ready to hang and in a stable condition.

  • A label with the artist’s name, painting title & painting price must be attached to the back side. Please print and use the attached label.

  • Title and price may not be changed after the entry form has been submitted. Please ensure the title and price on your painting label match your entry form. If there is a discrepancy between the form and the label, the information on the entry form will be used.

  • No paintings may be removed before the end of the show.

  • By participating in the show, artists give WSI and Jeffrey R. Krull Gallery permission to photograph and/or video tape their work to be used for educational and publicity purposes online and social media sites.

  Artwork may be for sale, but it is not required. WSI will handle all sales. The artist receives 70% commission. Please do not contact the library regarding sales.

  Art Images

  Images are not required but may be used in online and printed promotional material. Upload the image with the online registration form. If using an iPhone to photograph, turn off the live feature as it will not upload to the website.

  Each artist is also encouraged to promote the sale of their painting by directing people to the Watercolor Society of Indiana website https://www.watercolorsocietyofindiana.org/WSI-Store

  If you are active on Instagram or Facebook, remember to tag the Allen County Public Library and The Watercolor Society of Indiana.

  Risk

  The Watercolor Society of Indiana and the gallery will exercise diligent and reasonable care, but neither WSI nor Allen County Public Library shall be responsible for loss or damage to any painting. By participating in the show, the artist assumes all risks and agrees to the rules and conditions of this prospectus. We recommend getting insurance on your painting if you have concerns.

  Pick Up Dates

  Please pick up your paintings between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Saturday November 7. A photo ID is required. If your painting is sold the buyer has permission to pick it up. Unclaimed paintings become WSI property.

  Opening Reception

  Saturday, September 26, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend the free Opening Reception at the Jeffrey R. Krull Gallery, 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. The Gallery is located inside the West entrance at the Main Library and the reception is open to the public.

  "Autumn Leaves Reimagined: as shape, negative space and color." with WSI Signature Member MarySue Veerkamp-Schwab. 

  Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. at The Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artists Drive, Nashville, IN 47448.

  Welcome autumn in this one-day workshop inspired by the varied shapes and colors of fall leaves. Using leaves as both subject and design element, we will move beyond representational painting to create abstract compositions that explore shape, negative space, and transparent glazing,  transforming familiar leaf forms into dynamic compositions.

  Demonstrations will introduce the techniques and concepts, followed by time to develop your own painting with individualized instruction and guidance. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, make thoughtful artistic choices, and discover new possibilities through transparency, layering, color, and abstraction.

  Come explore the beauty of fall leaves in a fresh way—and discover what can emerge when watercolor, drawing, and abstraction come together.

  Adult class. Must have some watercolor experience. $45 per person. Supplies not included, see below. You do not need to be a member of The Watercolor Society of Indiana to attend! Space is limited.   Supply List for this workshop:

  The following list is based on my MarySue’s painting approach, and are SUGGESTIONS, not requirements. Students are welcome to incorporate their own material preferences.

  
  

  PAPER: WSI will provide each student with 2 sheets of Arches 140 lb. watercolor paper 9" x 12". You do not need to buy any watercolor paper for this class unless you want more or a larger size. WSI will also provide smaller pieces for testing colors.

  
  

  PAINTS: MarySue recommends a limited palette, 10 Windsor Newton Professional grade colors: 6 warm colors: Windsor Red, Windsor Yellow, Burnt Siena, and Raw Siena, Permanent Rose and Windsor Violet. 4 cool colors: Windsor Blue Green Shade, Windsor Blue Red Shade, Hookers Green, and Paynes Grey. Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White Fine art Paint, or similar Opaque white.

   

  A sturdy board to tape down paper so it does not buckle, WSI has a few for sale. Contact us for details.

   

  OTHER ITEMS: pencils, hard lead 2H or 4H, sharpener and kneaded eraser. Paper Towels, clear or white watercolor tape (no colored tapes) Ruler, Palette and mixing pans, 2 small cups for clean water. Small containers to mix colors, with lids.

   

  BRUSHES: Do not spend a fortune on brushes. Windsor Newton has an inexpensive line. Sizes: 2” and 1½” flat; #4 and #2 round. Toothbrush for splattering. MarySue’s favorite brush: Silver Black Velvet Oval ¾”.

   

  Supplies can be ordered from several art suppliers including Blick Art. If you have a hard time finding any of the above, please let us know.

  
  

  SNACKS/LUNCH: Please pack food and drinks for yourself. BCAG has a small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave. You are welcome to also bring snacks to share. Thank you!

• How to Mat and Frame a Painting for an Exhibit & Open Studio

  How to cut a mat to fit your painting & how to apply hanging hardware. Saturday, November 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm. WSI Signature Member Tim Lewis will lead this class.

  Each participant needs to bring:
  1. A watercolor painting to frame. (please, not larger than 12” x 16”)
  2. A frame, with acrylic or glass for the painting. The inside dimensions of the frame must be at least 3” larger than the painting in each direction.
  3. A piece of mat board in the color you want to use. Must be larger than the inside dimensions of the frame.
  4. A piece of 3/16” thick foam core. Must be larger than the inside dimensions of the frame.
  
  We will provide the mat cutters, D-rings, wire, tape framing points, and all tools needed. Each participant will leave with their painting framed and ready to hang for an exhibit.

  A Wine Tour of Italy

  The beautiful mountains of Italy and the surrounding seas create ideal conditions for growing some of the most beloved wines of the world. We will explore many distinctive wines of Italy, from the bright, sparkling Proseccos and crisp Pinot Grigios of the north, to the classic Sangiovese-based wines of Tuscany and the rich, dark reds of Sicily.
