Beginning Watercolor Class

"Beginning Watercolor Class" with WSI Signature Member Emily Wingate. Sunday, May 17 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Adult Beginners only.  Watercolor paper is provided, other Supplies not included, see below. *Please note this workshop will be held at the WSI Studio at Factory Arts District.

This class will cover the basics of watercolor painting. Learn about watercolor paints, brushes, paper, palettes, other tools used in watercolor, and techniques of application. Concentration on how to control the paint, how to mix the paint, and how to apply the paint. You do not need to be a member of The Watercolor Society to attend! Space is limited and for Beginners ONLY. Thank you!

Supply List for this workshop:

WSI will provide the watercolor paper. We will teach you the differences between types of watercolor paper. You do not need to buy any watercolor paper for this class.

• Watercolor paint set with 8-12 colors (tubes or pans are both fine): reds, yellows, blues, greens, browns- student grade is fine for this workshop (if you’re interested, some quality brands are Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith, and Holbein)
• Brushes - 2 rounds with good points (sizes 6 and 12) and a larger flat brush for washes (1-2”). Also, anything that you already have and like
• Palette - something that has some wells and flat areas for mixing
• Painting board - something like a piece of thin masonite, or sheet of hard plastic, drawing board, etc.
• water jar/cup
• Table salt
• Pencil, ruler and scissors
• Jar of masking fluid or a white crayon (rubber cement is fine too)

• Roll of masking tape
